1. Usage statistics from Learning Management System (LMS) activity. In this research Moodle will be used.

All academic staff and students involved in each trial (2 academics, 18 students per trial).

Moodle user activity logs will be kept for each trial/course. These logs provide data showing what aspects of the Moodle support course have been utilised, frequency of posting to discussion forums and other online interactions between staff and students, students and students. The online forums will also provide support forums and tutorials for the trials.

2. Eportfolio content and collaborative networking by participants

Eportfolio (Elgg) user activity logs will be kept for each trial/course. These logs provide data showing what aspects of the eportfolio have been utilised: file sharing, the creation of communities of practice, frequency of posting to discussion forums and other online interactions between staff and students, students and students.
